EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Define the role, scope, and best practices of menopause behavioral health support across clinical and non-clinical settings, including coaching-informed strategies, and apply them within their own scope of practice.

  • Explain the physiologic, psychosocial, and behavioral changes associated with perimenopause and menopause and their impact on mental health and wellbeing.

  • Identify common mood, anxiety, sleep, sexual health, vasomotor, and substance use concerns in perimenopause and menopause, and apply appropriate screening and referral approaches.

  • Apply evidence-informed behavioral health strategies, including cognitive behavioral and motivational interviewing techniques, and trauma-informed, culturally responsive, equity-centered care, to support emotional wellbeing and symptom management.

  • Collaborate effectively within team-based care environments to support coordinated, patient-centered behavioral health care across the menopause transition. (Team-based objective.)
