About the PBH-C

The FamilyWell Perinatal Behavioral Health Coach Certificate (PBH-C) Program is a CE-accredited training designed for both non-clinical professionals — including parents, doulas, lactation consultants, and birth workers — and licensed clinicians such as therapists, nurses, social workers, and physician assistants who want to specialize in perinatal mental health. Through 25 hours of accredited continuing education, participants gain evidence-based knowledge and practical coaching tools to support pregnant and postpartum individuals through perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), birth trauma, perinatal loss, and the emotional challenges of early parenthood. The program combines self-paced video modules taught by leading perinatal mental health experts with live group mentorship sessions, giving learners both the clinical foundation and the hands-on practice they need to make a real difference for families during one of the most vulnerable periods of their lives. If you are not interested in the CE credits, it is available at a lower cost. Write to [email protected]

The PBH-C certificate is the foundation of FamilyWell's clinical model, backed by peer-reviewed research.

A study published in the Maternal and Child Health Journal (Steele et al., 2026) evaluated FamilyWell's coach-driven Collaborative Care Model across 185 pregnant and postpartum patients in an OB/GYN practice, finding statistically significant reductions in both depression and anxiety symptoms, with approximately half of patients achieving a 50% or greater decrease in symptom scores — the first study to demonstrate these outcomes in a real-world clinical setting outside of a controlled trial. When you earn your PBH-C, you're trained to the standard used in this model. Steele, K., Zimmermann, M., Simas, T.A.M. et al. (2026).
